SECTION 4.5: VEHICLE PURSUIT PROCEDURES
PURSUIT INITIATION & MANAGEMENT

PURSUIT PROTOCOL - CODE 3 RESPONSE

INITIAL BROADCAST
10-80 on [vehicle], occupied times [number].
Heading [direction] on [street] in [area].
Requesting immediate assistance, Code 3."


PURSUIT RULES OF ENGAGEMENT:

• PRIMARY UNIT: Closest vehicle maintains pursuit and updates
• SECONDARY UNIT: Follows primary, ready to take over if needed
• TERTIARY UNIT: Parallel streets or ahead for intercept
• ADDITIONAL UNITS: Stage at likely termination points

CRITICAL: Maintain single-file formation - NO overtaking without permission





P.I.T. MANEUVER AUTHORIZATION:

POST-CRASH PROCEDURE:

1. Suspect vehicle disabled → Verbal commands to exit
2. Suspect flees on foot → Authorized force options:
• Taser (all ranks)
• Beanbag (Sergeant+ only, if suspect is slow)
3. Suspect incapacitated → Collect DNA sample, add charges
4. Track to hospital if name known → Arrest upon discharge

4.6 ARREST & DETENTION PROCEDURES

CUSTODY PROTOCOLS

TRANSPORT REQUIREMENTS:
• Must use 4-door vehicle (back seat required)
• Two-door vehicles and motorcycles PROHIBITED
• Suspect must be cuffed and restrained
• Unrestrain ONLY with Sergeant+ approval






BOOKING PROCEDURE
STEP 1: IDENTIFICATION
• Request name
• Transport to station holding cells
• Fingerprint scan to verify identity
• Document any false information provided

STEP 2: SEARCH PROCEDURE
• Don white search gloves (back pocket)
• Frisk for weapons and contraband
• ((Ask for resistance via /do))
• Confiscate all illegal items found
• ((Request item location via /do, then removal))

STEP 3: ARREST PROCESSING
• Complete arrest report (/arrest command)
• Enter: Badge number (not full name)
• Set appropriate fine and jail time
• NO BAIL - Enter 0 for bail amount
• ((Format: /arrest [fine] [minutes] 0 0))

STEP 4: COMPLETION
• Suspect transferred to custody by guards
• Radio update: "Resuming 10-8, 10-15 in custody"
• Complete all paperwork
• Return to patrol duties



WARNING: Setting bail will result in strike/suspension

• Felony just occurred

Response: Code 2/3 - Multiple units

ROUTINE - DELAYED RESPONSE
• Cold burglary/theft reports
• Non-injury accidents
• Noise complaints
• Parking violations

Response: Code 1 - Single unit when available

4.8 DUTY STATUS PROCEDURES

Must remain on-duty at all times. Do not ask to go off-duty.

Must request permission via radio with valid reason
Sergeant+ approval required
Maximum 30 minutes unless extended

Sergeant+
Must request from another Sergeant+ (cannot self-approve)
Valid reason required
Higher rank may override decisions






OFF-DUTY REQUIREMENTS:


MANDATORY PROCEDURES
✓ Return ALL department vehicles to station
✓ Store ALL department equipment in locker
✓ Change to civilian clothing
✓ Update radio status: "Unit [#] 10-7"
✓ Return within 30 minutes exactly (unless extended)


PROHIBITED WHILE OFF DUTY:
✗ Responding to calls or situations
✗ Using department vehicles
✗ Wearing department uniform
✗ Exercising police authority


RETURNING TO DUTY:
• Report to any station/precinct
• Retrieve equipment from locker
• Don appropriate uniform
• Radio: "Unit [#] 10-8, resuming patrol"



Failure to return on time = Disciplinary action
